With fewer rangers and crews in the field, it’s up to all of us to care for the land. Remember Leave No Trace? Pack out your trash, put out fires completely, follow the rules (camping, motorized vehicles, fires), and properly dispose of human waste. If you don’t do it, no one else will.
See a smoldering fire? Spot litter on the trail? Take a moment to help. Small actions—like packing out extra trash or reporting a safety issue—go a long way when public agencies are under strain. Call 911 for emergencies.
Public lands thrive when the public cares. Talk about what’s at stake—with friends, family, and fellow recreationalists. Awareness builds stewardship.
Voice your opinions in Roaring Fork Valley newspapers.
Tell them why public lands matter to you—and urge full funding/staffing for land management agencies and a firm no to any public land selloffs. No matter your politics, these places belong to all of us and are paid for by American tax dollars.
